ARTIST STATEMENT
My mixed-media art invites viewers to lean in, literally and figuratively, to the lives of cultural giants. Through mixed-media portraiture, I strive to capture the essence of influential figures, both contemporary and historical, while peeling back the glossy myth to reveal the human complexities beneath. Rendered in a street art-inspired aesthetic, my portraits combine acrylic, ink, oil stick, newsprint, and paper on canvas. From afar, each image presents a striking, recognizable figure – an icon. As viewers draw closer, intimate details emerge: biographical fragments, cultural references, and historical milestones layered into the very fabric of the work. These embedded elements transform each portrait into a living archive: part homage, part reckoning.
