Mark Ruddy

ARTIST STATEMENT

Mark Ruddy was born and raised in Concord,N.H. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of New Hampshire in1981. He moved to New York City in 1982 where he worked as an illustrator and graphic artist before moving to Long Island in 1988. There he continued working as an illustrator. He did illustrations for numerous wine labels and for children’s clothing companies. He began painting murals in 1989 and he started his own decorative painting business in 1990. He also received his first portrait commission that year. Since then Mark has produced numerous commissioned portraits as well as commissioned paintings for the State of New Hamshire and the Black Ice Hockey Tournament. In 2004 Mark and his family moved to Concord,NH. He began teaching art at NHTI, the New Hampshire Institute of Art, the Kimball Jenkins School of Art and Parker Academy. Since his return to New Hampshire, Mark has exhibited his paintings at numerous galleries in the northeast including the Thanassi Gallery in Provincetown, Ma., the Fitzgerald Gallery in Westhampton Beach, N.Y., the Millbrook Gallery and Kimball Jenkins Gallery in Concord, N.H., Art Stream in Rochester and Argh Gallery in Manchester.
