ARTIST STATEMENT
Following my retirement from a career as an interventional anesthesiologist in 2021, I was looking for my new happy place. Music had always been my medium of expression but I wanted something new and fresh. I found painting and went to town, spending an entire summer, mostly barefoot in my garage, churning out pieces and fighting flies. Several gallery shows have transpired and my process has evolved greatly. My art has transformed from largely unpredictable pieces to me being able to engineer the paint and substrate to become the image in my mind’s eye. I have moved away from 2D into highly textured 3D pieces. I paint and sculpt, utilizing motion, air, and heat and at times integrate wire scaffolding embedded in the acrylic paint for enhanced structure and durability. I love to play with bold color schemes and enhanced realism as well as the abstract. Enjoy my offerings!
