Sharon Boisvert is an artist who works and lives in southern New Hampshire.
From a young age, Sharon exhibited a strong passion for the arts, eventually earning a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Her early professional career spanned graphic design, art direction, and account management. Starting a family shifted her career path, but also deepened her creative drive. Drawing on her design expertise, she led community art projects, mentored young artists, and dedicated countless volunteer hours to arts education and outreach.
In 2016, a visit to a pastel exhibition rekindled her love of painting after a long hiatus. Captivated by the vibrancy, immediacy, and tactile nature of the medium, she purchased a set of soft pastels and began a new chapter in her creative life. What began as an experimental return to fine art quickly evolved into a serious, focused exploration of the pastel medium.
Sharon’s work is rooted in a deep emotional connection to the natural world. Inspired by the quiet beauty of the landscapes that surround her, she seeks to capture not just the visual elements of a scene, but the mood, energy, and ephemeral light that define it. Light is central to her compositions—its brilliance, its subtlety, and its ability to transform a landscape in an instant. Each painting is a personal response to place and moment.
Working in soft pastels allows her to approach the surface with spontaneity and immediacy. Free from the constraints of mixing on a palette or preparing tools, she can respond intuitively to the landscape and her internal response to it. Her process is both structured and instinctive: beginning with a carefully chosen palette, she builds layers of color, texture, and light to create a sense of atmosphere and presence.
She is a Signature Member of both the Pastel Society of New Hampshire and the Pastel Society of America, a juried member of the New Hampshire Art Association, and an artist member of the Two Villages Art Society. Her work has been featured in national juried exhibitions and has received numerous awards. Most recently, her painting Deep in the Shallow was accepted into the Pastel Society of America’s 2025 International Juried Exhibition in New York City. Her upcoming group exhibition at Glimpse Gallery in Concord, NH, October 2025, marks her second group show.
