ROse Culver

Rose Culver is a self-taught artist who is making the most of the gift she discovered just over 3 years ago by spending much of her free time in front of the easel. Rose enjoys painting in oils on canvas of a wide variety of subjects: from Celtics’ & Patriots’ player portraits, to dog/pet portrait commissions, to landscapes, and most recently, her series which captures moments in her home.

Rose is a die-hard Boston Celtics fan. Her affinity for the team inspired her to paint her favorite player as her second-ever painting. Her personal success in depicting Marcus Smart was the reason Rose felt as though she “had something here,” and thus she kept going with her art. Since and to date, she has painted 18 more player portraits (as well as Drake Maye of the New England Patriots). During this past 2025-2026 season, she was able to personally connect with six individual players prior to games and give each a full size (16”x20” plus border) professional print of their portrait while getting their autograph on another print for her own personal collection. Rose feels blessed that she has been able to use her artistic gift to make her experience as a fan even more special.

The series of still life’s inside her home was inspired by Rose’s love of light, color, and beauty in her surroundings, both indoors and out. It is a different practice to represent subjects other than portraits on canvas. Portraits require more exactness and precision, and for Rose it is fun to change things up by painting something that demands less fidelity in its representation.
